Learn to Use Your Camera with Confidence
Photography Courses in Swindon – Learn With a Professional
Hi, I’m Peter, a professional photographer based in Swindon, Wiltshire. I offer relaxed, practical one-to-one photography training designed to help you get more from your DSLR or mirrorless camera.
Perhaps you’ve invested in a good camera but still find yourself relying on automatic settings. Maybe you understand the basics but would like to feel more confident using manual settings, choosing the right lens or working with light.
Whatever your experience, I’ll tailor the training around you, your camera and the type of photography you enjoy.
I’m primarily a wedding and event photographer, although I also enjoy landscape photography and photographing my cocker spaniel, Larry. I’ve been teaching photography for six years and have developed a relaxed approach to teaching that keeps things practical and avoids unnecessary technical jargon.
Whether you’re interested in landscapes, portraits, pets, architecture or simply want to improve your everyday photography, I can help.
What You Will Learn
The training is practical and tailored around your interests rather than following a rigid syllabus.
Depending on what you’d like to achieve, we can cover:
- Understanding your DSLR or mirrorless camera
- Camera controls and manual settings
- Exposure, composition and light
- Choosing the right lens
- Taking better photographs in different situations
- Practical photography at a suitable location
- Editing your photographs in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
My aim is not simply to show you which buttons to press, but to help you understand why you’re using them, so you can continue developing your photography afterwards.
Why My Courses Are Focused
I’ve found that people learn best when training is focused and practical. Trying to cover too much in one session can become overwhelming, making it harder to remember what you’ve learned.
That’s why my courses are designed around focused sessions. Even in three hours, beginners can learn to use their camera in manual settings, put those skills into practice and learn the basics of editing in Lightroom and Photoshop.
The five-hour course allows us to explore these areas in more depth, while the ten-hour Advanced Course is spread over two days to give you time to absorb and build on what you’ve learned.
Three-Hour Photography Course
£150
A focused introduction to photography, ideal for beginners or anyone wanting to concentrate on particular areas of their camera skills.
With six years of experience teaching photography, I’ve found that three hours is enough time to teach beginners how to confidently use their camera in manual settings and understand the basics of exposure, light and composition.
We’ll put what you’ve learned into practice at a suitable location, giving you the opportunity to take photographs and ask questions along the way.
The session also includes around an hour learning how to edit the photographs you’ve taken using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
You’ll leave with a much better understanding of your camera and the confidence to continue developing your photography.
Student Review
“It was the perfect introduction to photography. Great insights to my camera, the general principles as well as photo editing”

Five-Hour One-to-One Photography Course
£200
A more comprehensive training session giving us additional time to develop your camera skills, work on practical photography and explore editing.
We’ll start by looking at your camera and discussing what you’d like to achieve, before heading out to put the theory into practice. We’ll then return to the studio and work with the photographs you’ve taken in Lightroom and Photoshop.
The training is completely tailored around you, so we can spend more time on the areas you find challenging and less time on things you already understand.
I deliberately keep the training focused and practical. Five hours gives us plenty of time to cover a lot of ground without overwhelming you with too much information in one session.

Ten-Hour Advanced Photography Course
£400
The ten-hour Advanced Photography Course is delivered over two days and is designed for keen amateur photographers or those looking to develop their skills further.
With more time available, we can explore advanced camera techniques, composition, exposure and light in greater depth, as well as developing your editing skills in Lightroom and Photoshop.
The two-day format also gives you an opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice between sessions before continuing with the second day.
