Matara Centre Wedding Photography – Ellie & Stefan’s Joyful Cotswolds Celebration
A selection of photographs from Ellie and Stefan’s joyful wedding at Matara Centre.
Ellie and Stefan’s wedding at Matara Centre was filled with laughter, emotion and genuine moments from beginning to end. From the moment I arrived, there was a wonderful sense of excitement as family and friends gathered to celebrate their day.
They planned a relaxed and personal wedding, allowing every part of the celebration to unfold naturally. From emotional moments during the ceremony to laughter shared with guests throughout the reception, my documentary approach allowed me to capture the real story of their wedding day.
The unique character and creative surroundings of Matara Centre provided the perfect backdrop for their photographs. With its gardens, woodland paths, sculptures and tranquil spaces, the venue offered countless opportunities for natural images that reflected the atmosphere and personality of their celebration.
Ellie and Stefan were a joy to photograph, and I am grateful to have been part of such a memorable Cotswolds wedding.
Matara Centre – A Unique Cotswolds Wedding Venue
Set within the Gloucestershire countryside, Matara Centre is one of the most distinctive wedding venues in the Cotswolds. Rather than a traditional wedding setting, Matara has a creative and artistic atmosphere, with carefully designed gardens, peaceful water features, sculptures and hidden pathways waiting to be discovered.
Every area of the grounds has its own character, providing couples with a wedding backdrop that feels both natural and individual. The changing seasons bring a different atmosphere throughout the year, from vibrant summer gardens to the rich colours of autumn.
Inside, the main ceremony/dining room has a wonderful sense of character. The impressive domed ceiling, large windows and stunning chandelier create a bright and uplifting space that feels both elegant and unique. This combination of architecture and atmosphere makes Matara Centre a truly memorable place to celebrate your wedding day.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Matara Centre
One of the things I love most about Matara Centre is its individuality and the unique atmosphere it creates for every wedding.
The venue encourages couples and guests to explore, creating opportunities for natural photographs away from the main celebrations. Whether it is a quiet moment beside the water, walking through the gardens or enjoying the evening light among the trees, Matara naturally lends itself to storytelling photography.
The combination of artistic details, peaceful surroundings and varied locations means every wedding collection feels personal. No two celebrations will look the same because the venue itself adapts beautifully to each couple and every season.
Best Places for Wedding Photos at Matara Centre
Matara Centre offers a wonderfully diverse range of locations for couple portraits, family photographs and bridal party images throughout the day.
The secret gardens are a highlight, with pathways, ponds, bridges and sculptures creating distinctive artistic backdrops. The grounds offer varied settings, from intimate woodland portraits to wider photographs surrounded by nature.
During the evening, the softer light by the lake creates wonderful opportunities for relaxed couple portraits. The changing seasons also bring their own character, with fresh spring colours, summer greenery and rich autumn tones all adding something different to the photographs.
From the pond courtyard to the domed ceremony room, Matara offers unique settings for your wedding ceremony.
Planning Your Wedding at Matara Centre
Planning a wedding at Matara Centre is an exciting experience, so here are a few tips to help you make the most of your day.
Golden Hour Portraits
The gardens and surrounding grounds are especially atmospheric during the evening when the light becomes softer. Setting aside a short amount of time before sunset allows for relaxed portraits while still giving you plenty of time with your guests.
Group Photographs
The larger family photographs are usually best completed before the wedding breakfast. This keeps the day flowing naturally and allows everyone to relax and enjoy the celebrations afterwards.
Explore the Grounds
Matara Centre has many unique areas to discover, so allowing time for a short walk around the grounds can create opportunities for natural photographs away from the main celebrations.
Wet Weather
Every type of weather can create beautiful photographs. Matara Centre’s indoor spaces offer great opportunities, while an umbrella can create memorable photographs outdoors in wet weather. There are of course several secret garden areas which are enclosed and equally wonderful for couple portraits.
Timings
Every wedding day is different, so during our consultation we can discuss the best timings for photographs throughout your celebration. This helps everything feel relaxed while making the most of the venue’s unique surroundings.
Enjoy Your Day
The best photographs often happen when couples are fully present and enjoying the moment. Don’t worry about everything being perfect; some of the most meaningful memories come from the unexpected moments.
I am proud to be one of Matara’s recommended photographers and love capturing celebrations at this truly distinctive Cotswolds venue. Matara Centre offers wonderful opportunities for natural, documentary wedding photography throughout the year.
